Red Bull Music Academy 2011

Trevor is just back from Madrid where gave a special lecture and interview as part of the Red Bull Music Academy.

"The famous producer joined the event for a lengthy chat that covered everything from The Buggles and failing to remember Derrik May's name to arguing with the band Yes until they gave in and rerecorded their biggest hit, Owner of a Lonely Heart," reports redbull.com.

"But it was when talking about his work with punk rock impresario and Duck Rock creator Malcolm McLaren that Horn became most animated. Watch this clip to hear Horn talking about his work with McLaren on the massive hit, Buffalo Gals."

Yes will Fly From Here

Trevor Horn is back at the controls for the new album from Yes.

"The new album - Fly From Here - represents the best of Yes from the 70s and the 80's with a current twist,” explains Chris Squire. It will be released on Frontiers in July.

The title comes from Trevor's early '80s demo 'We Can Fly From Here' (which was unearthed for last year's Adventures in Modern Recording reissue). “Chris and I were talking one evening about a song ‘...Fly From Here’ that we never recorded,” says Trevor.

“I said I was prepared to spend two weeks with Yes recording that song. When I arrived in America to record it, I was taken prisoner by the band and only allowed my freedom again in return for producing the whole album. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse!”

Trevor Horn CBE

As reported by BBC News, Trevor Horn was awarded a CBE in the News Years' Honours List on 01 January 2011.

"It's not something you ever think about in my line of work because it's so enjoyable anyway - you don't look for any other rewards," Trevor told the Press Association. "It's so amazing to have a load of people listen to a record you've made."

We've archived a short interview from BBC Radio 4's Today programme on ZTT's Radio page, and an on-camera item from the BBC lunchtime news is up on YouTube.
